Your first visit

Before you arrive for our first meeting, try to give some thought to what you hope to get out of therapy. Some useful questions to consider: if therapy is helpful, how will I know? What will be different? How will I know if this therapist is a good fit? What information helps me know that?

If we are meeting online, please be sure to arrange for a quiet, private space where you can feel comfortable sharing your personal story.

When we meet, we'll discuss enough of your story so that together we can make a plan to reach your goals. I can help explain the process of therapy and will offer my thoughts on what could be helpful, based on your personal situation. We will review paperwork explaining confidentiality and other important issues and set an agenda for the next few sessions.

Our collaboration will be an important part of how much you benefit from therapy. My goal is to develop a compassionate, curious, nonjudgmental relationship so that you can talk honestly and openly about what matters to you.

*I am currently offering teletherapy and in-person visits. *
